Ogham Birth Spoon's

£110.00

Spoon’s created more as gifts for new life, new babies. Made from individual cuttings of Twigs and Leaf’s foraged from all the Trees in the Ogham Calendar and Cast in my studio by little old me in Recycled Brass.

I became a godmamma many moons ago and was asked to say a speech. Not one for public speaking i began my search for creating something which would mean i didn’t need any words… i came across ‘The Ogham Tree Calendar.’ An ancient alphabet made of runes allocated to native trees which symbolise certain times within the year similar to the zodiac but which followed a 13 calendar month unlike our Gregorian modern day calendar which is 12.

  • 13 Trees for the months within the year

  • 4 which Symbolise the Equinoxes and Solstices

  • 2 associated to the Lighter and Darker Parts of the year. Apple & Blackthorn

  • Beech which is the Tree of the Year

These Spoons combine something truly magical and old, the pagan Ogham with a Tradition of being a Godparent which is ‘giving of a spoon,’ the nurture of ones duties. Each and every Spoon is completely one-off. Made in the moment, in the season, with pieces from Trees which can’t be replicated. If that spoon is sold i make a new one, with a new twig and fresh leaves so will be the same Tree but different. So every piece is truly unique and bespoke.

Which Tree are you? Or which Tree would you like to purchase for a little loved one…
